Meetings & Assistance Programs

Senior Nutrition Program Enjoy a hot, tasty & nutritional meal prepared by Sodexo Corporation & sponsored by Riverside County Office on Aging. Meals are served Monday - Friday at 11:20 am. Suggested donation is $3.00 for those 60 years and over. There is a $5.00 fee for those 50-59years old. A meal delivery program is available for thehomebound, frail and elderly seniors.
Advisory Board S.T.A.R. Volunteers These two important groups from the Rose M. Eldridge Senior Center combine their efforts and meet to exchange ideas, comments and concerns regarding issues within the center. Groups receive information regarding special events and classes held at the Rose Eldridge Senior Center in which they volunteer. Representatives from classes and groups meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. Refreshments are served. For more information on how to become a S.T.A.R. Norco Seniors and Pets Breakfast The Norco Seniors and Pets Relief Fund sponsors a breakfast and bingo on the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Rose M. Eldridge Senior Center. Price of breakfast is $3.00 per person. Bingo runs from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. and costs 25 cents for 4 squares. All proceeds go to the Norco Seniors and Pets Relief Fund. USDA Food Distribution  Program This food assistance program is for seniors who meet income qualifications. Food may be picked up on a "first come, first served" basis at the Rose M. Eldridge Senior Center. Food is distributed on the first Wednesday of each month. Exceptions do occur. Food is subject to availability. Quantity, quality and selection may vary. Southern California Edison Company Energy Assistance Edison Company has the following energy assistance programs: The California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program offers income-qualified customers a discount of 20% or more off their monthly electric bill. A two-person household may qualify for this program if they have a maximum yearly income of $30,260. If the CARE program is not applicable, a senior and family may qualify for the Family Electric Rate Assistance program (FERA). This plan offers a discounted rate on a monthly SCE bill for families of three or more who fall within the income guidelines and who exceed their baseline usage by 30% or more. The Gas Company Project CARE The Gas Company's CARE program is designed to assist seniors. If a senior  receives assistance from Medi-Cal or Medicaid, CalFresh or other specific programs or the total income for one senior is $22,340 or two seniors is $30,260 he or she may qualify for the CARE Program which provides a 20% discount on the monthly gas bill for eligible households. In addition, those who qualify--and are approved within 90 days of starting new gas service--will also receive a $15 discount on the Service Establishment Charge. Waste Management of the IE Senior Discount Program Waste Management of the Inland Empire provides a reduction of the monthly rate for trash pick-up. This program is for low-income senior citizens 65 years of age or older or disabled. Income limits apply. For more information, please call (951) 270-5654.
Norco Senior Citizens and Pet Relief Fund Norco residents 62 of age or older may contact Seniors and Pets through the Rose M. Eldridge Senior Center for financial assistance to spay or neuter their dog(s). Remember: Seniors will no longer be eligible for the senior citizen dog license rates if their dog(s) is/are not spayed or neutered. For further assistance, please call (951) 270-5647.
