Geocaching Policies

Policies:

·Anyone wishing to place a cache on City Property is required to have the cache approved. (Refer to “Requesting Approval” section below.)

·The City of Norco is required to inform the applicant of any areas that have been recognized as “off limits” for placing caches.

·No digging, disruption of the groundor dismantling of a facility is permitted while placing a cache.

·Caches are not to be placed in an area that could potentially cause danger to visitors trying tolocate the cache. For example, climbing on cliffs, underwater in flood areas, or in trees.

·When hiding and seeking caches, do not compromise the safety of other patrons. For example, hiding a cache on steps or in the middle of a soccer field.

·People of all ages hide and seek caches, so think before placing an item into a cache. Explosives, ammunition, knives, drugs and alcohol should not be placed in a cache. Respect the local laws.

·Food items are not allowed in the caches. Animals have better noses than humans, and in some cases caches have been chewed through and destroyed because of food items in a cache.

·If at anytime the guidelines are violated, the City of Norco has the authority to remove the cache from its location and notify the owner that the cache has been removed.
