The City Clerk’s Office Will Accept Applications Through September 25, 2017
At its meeting on September 6, 2017, the City Council approved revisions to the requirements for membership on the Norco Youth Advisory Council. To be eligible to serve, you must be a current registered student, grades 9 – 12, at Norco High School or John F. Kennedy Middle College High School; or a current registered student, grades 9 – 12, residing in Norco either home schooled, attend private school, or attend school outside of the Corona-Norco Unified School District.
The deadline to submit applications has been extended to 6:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017. Applications will not be received or considered after that date. The Norco City Council will consider and make the appointments at the City Council meeting on Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Applications will be accepted to fill nine (9) positions. Terms are one year (October – May), coinciding with the school year.
The Norco Youth Advisory Council, established in 2016, was created to promote community involvement with, for, and by youth. Students on the Advisory Council review proposals for programs, projects, and facilities as they pertain to youth; assist in the evaluation and planning of programs and services with an emphasis on youth; review and make recommendations on matters pertaining to youth programming and services to the various City Commissions and the City Council; promote youth involvement in community events, programs, and volunteer projects through public education, schools, and community organizations; and act in an advisory capacity to the City Council in all other policy matters pertaining to youth.
An appointment to the Norco Youth Advisory Council is an honor and a responsibility. The City Council has confidence in the judgment and integrity of its appointees and relies on them for information and recommendations on specific matters.
