Press Release: Norco Sheriff’s Office Fireworks Enforcement Operation
NORCO, CA – Several months ago, the Norco Sheriff’s Office started the planning of the July 4th Holiday, illegal fireworks enforcement operation. This annual planning included an educational aspect, warning against the dangers and penalties associated with illegal fireworks activity, which was pushed through various social media outlets, signage, and City water bill mailers. The planning also included a collaboration with CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department, as well as City of Norco Code Enforcement and Animal Control.
Starting on Friday, June 29, the enforcement team started to pro-actively patrol the City of Norco to investigate fireworks activity. The enforcement team implemented a zero-tolerance policy during the enforcement phase. On Wednesday, July 4, starting at 8:00 p.m., the enforcement team responded to fireworks activity. During the enforcement, individuals in Norco who were caught igniting fireworks were cited and are now facing fines from $1,000- $2,000. Illegal fireworks were also confiscated off of the violators.
