WoodSpring Suites Breaks Ground in Norco
You may have noticed some construction beginning on the 3200 block of Hamner Avenue, on the east side of the street just north of Brake Masters. This is the site of the future WoodSpring Suites hotel, one of the company’s first projects in Southern California. WoodSpring, a value-oriented extended-stay brand recently acquired by Choice Hotels, was attracted to Norco because of demand generated by SilverLakes, Ingalls Equestrian Event Center and the City’s strategic Inland Empire location.
WoodSpring plans an ambitious construction period of approximately 10 months—most comparable hotel projects take up to 18 months—with a summer 2019 opening. The building façade will feature Western-inspired architectural elements compatible with Horsetown USA and each suite will include a kitchen with full-size refrigerator, two-burner stovetop and microwave. The suites, ideal for families and attractively priced for multi-day stays, is also expected to be pet-friendly.
Because of burgeoning attendance at SilverLakes and Ingalls, as well as major employers in the City or nearby, Norco is recognized as a desirable market for hotel developers and operators. In addition, the hospitality industry is currently experiencing unprecedented growth nationwide. In consideration of these factors, and because the City’s transient occupancy tax (TOT) generates direct revenue to the City, staff continues to aggressively encourage hotel development in Norco.
We look forward to seeing the progress on Norco’s new WoodSpring Suites. For more information on the company, visit www.woodspring.com.
