Press Release: Norco Sheriff's Office Completes Theft Investigation and Arrest
NORCO, CA - On Saturday, December 8, 2018, around 9:34 a.m., deputies assigned to the Norco Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located in the 1400 block of Morab Way, in the City of Norco, referencing a theft.
The investigation revealed suspects had arrived at the location and stole property from the victim’s vehicle before fleeing the area in another vehicle. The crime was recorded on a resident’s video surveillance system.
Deputies assigned to the Special Enforcement Team (SET) conducted follow-up into the theft. On Tuesday, December 11, 2018, SET deputies determined the stolen property had been listed “for sale” by the suspects through an electronic and mobile-driven marketplace. Deputies initiated an undercover operation and met with the suspects at a location in the City of Jurupa Valley. The suspects were detained without incident.
Further investigation revealed the suspects were in possession of stolen property affiliated with the Norco theft and had arrived at the location in a stolen vehicle, which was subsequently recovered. The suspects were identified as Danny Lee Petray, age 23, and Daniel Lee Shirley, age 28, both residents of Jurupa Valley.
Petray was arrested for grand theft, possession of stolen property, and violation of probation. Shirley was arrested for possession of stolen property and several outstanding warrants. Both suspects were booked into the county jail in the City of Riverside.
