Mark Your Calendar: George Alan Ingalls Day
Mark your calendars, Norco! George Alan Ingalls Day will be held on Tuesday, April 16, at 8:30 a.m. at the George A. Ingalls Veterans Memorial Plaza.
Join us to honor and pay tribute to George A. Ingalls, a Norco resident who died in Vietnam on April 16, 1967, and posthumously received the Congressional Medal of Honor. Army Specialist Ingalls threw himself onto a grenade to save the lives of his squad members. Ingalls’ gallantry and selfless devotion to his comrades was in keeping with the highest tradition of the United States Army. As a youth, Ingalls attended Norco Junior High School and Corona High School, participated in local sports, and was the president of the youth group at the Community Church of Norco. Ingalls had a sense of loyalty, not only to his sports teams, but to his family, his church, his community and his country. Because of Ingalls’ dedication and supreme sacrifice, the City of Norco named its largest park, the George Ingalls Event Center and George A. Ingalls Veterans Memorial Plaza, in his honor, and annually commemorates his legacy on April 16.
