Paul Blanco’s Good Car Company Closes its Doors
After opening in 2016, Paul Blanco’s Good Car Company, a Sacramento-based used car dealership, is closing its doors at 2000 Hamner Avenue. The City values its business community and while it is disappointing to see any merchant, large or small, close its doors in Norco, challenges presented in the private sector marketplace are often outside of the control of the City. In addition, businesses do not always consult with the City before deciding to close.
The City actively encouraged Paul Blanco’s Good Car Company to select Norco for its Inland Empire dealership and during its tenure the business generated substantial sales tax revenue to the City. The company has been leasing its property in the Auto Mall and its departure creates a new opportunity for the City to attract another automotive industry business with revenue-generating potential. The City is working closely with the property owner and prospective users to ensure that the property is put to productive use in the future.
In 2016, the City acquired a former Redevelopment Agency parcel, a 1.6-acre lot on Four Wheel Drive across from the dealership, and sold it to Paul Blanco’s Good Car Company for future expansion. Because the sale to the company was facilitated by a loan from the City of Norco, the City will retain the title to the property, which is now worth more than the $805,000 the City originally paid for it. Despite its unexpected departure, Paul Blanco’s Good Car Company’s tenure in Norco represented a net benefit to the City.
