Construction Progress on Sixth Street
Construction of a major shopping center is now well underway on approximately three acres of land at the southeast corner of Sixth Street and Sierra Avenue. Multiple properties were consolidated by Waypoint Development Group to create this opportunity, the largest construction project on Sixth Street since the construction of Norco Country Center (home to Boot Barn) about a decade ago.
The project will be anchored by a Grocery Outlet, a successful, rapidly-expanding chain, and Waypoint Development has committed to Western architecture, preservation of trails and public art consistent with Sixth Street’s signature theme. Taco Bell, another tenant, is also under construction, and the developers are currently negotiating with other restaurant and retail tenants for the center’s remaining space.
Almost fully built-out is the 15,000-square-foot supermarket and a 6,000-square-foot retail building. Grocery Outlet is a publicly-traded company whose deep discount supermarkets—330 have been built in six states to date—have quickly earned an enthusiastic following. The chain’s arrival in Norco will give local residents an additional choice for their grocery needs and company representatives are anxious to play an active role in the community.
A wall, buffering neighboring residences from the center’s activity, has been constructed, one of many architectural elements designed to ensure the center has minimal impact on adjoining residences. This center is projected to spur economic development on Sixth Street, which is ideally situated to accommodate a diversity of retail, dining and hospitality uses catering to both local residents and visitors. Grocery Outlet is expected to open in late spring or early summer.
