Council Members and Staff Meet with Congressman Ken Calvert
Every year, Congressman Ken Calvert visits City Hall to provide updates on relevant legislation, and his staff has been instrumental in assisting the City of Norco secure funding for major projects or navigate the complex federal bureaucracy. The relationship between any municipality and its Congressional delegation is important because of the many interfaces local governments have with federal agencies.
At this year’s meeting, the Congressman reaffirmed his support for the Hamner Avenue Bridge Project—it is primarily funded by the Federal Highway Bridge Program—that is essential to the future economic development of the City of Norco. Also discussed was an abandoned sewage treatment facility under the jurisdiction of the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) and current restrictions by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) on two water reservoirs in the southwest quadrant of the City. While Congressman Calvert recognizes the importance of Congress passing major bipartisan funding for infrastructure, he conceded that was unlikely in an election year.
Representative Calvert and his staff have been very helpful to the City of Norco and staff looks forward to working with his office to further benefit Norco residents.
