Meetings & Assistance Programs
|Senior Nutrition Program||Enjoy a hot, tasty & nutritional meal prepared by Sodexo Corporation & sponsored by Riverside County Office on Aging. Meals are served Monday - Friday at 11:20 am. Suggested donation is $3.00 the program is only for individuals 60 years and over. A meal delivery program is available for the homebound, frail and elderly seniors, please contact Office on Aging at (1800) 510 -2020 for additional information on this service.|
|Senior Transportation Program||The Senior "door to door," transportation program provides transportation for Seniors, veterans and the disabled community of Norco. Norco residents can call (951) 270-5647 to schedule an transportation, service is on a "first come, first serve basis," at no cost. Transportation is available to medical appointments, post office and grocery stores among other locations.|
|Senior Excursions||The Senior Excursion Program is open to Seniors 50 and older both residents and non residents. The program offers leisure travel with a minimum of two trips a month to museums, gardens, exhibitions, casinos and much more!|
|S.T.A.R. Volunteer Advisory Board||The S.T.A.R Volunteer advisory board meets on a monthly basis to provide input, exchange ideas, comments and concerns regarding activities at the senior center. The meeting showcases senior programs and participants receive information regarding special events and classes; meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at 11:00 a.m. For more information on how to become a S.T.A.R. |HI-CAP||The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program offers free, unbiased Medicare counseling to those seeking assistance. Appointments at the Rose M. Eldridge Senior Center are every 4th Tuesday of the month. Call (800) 434 -0222 or (909) 256-8369 to schedule an appointment.|
|Inland County Legal Services||The Inland County Legal Services is available to assist San Bernardino and Riverside County Residents 60 years & older on the 1st Thursday of each month. Call (800) 977-4257 between 8:45 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. to schedule an appointment.|
|AARP Driver Safety Course||Need a refresher on your driver safety skills? Attend our driver safety classes provided by AARP. The class is designed especially for drivers age 50 & older. Courses are $15.00 for AARP member and $20.00 for non AARP members. Please call (951) 270-5647 to register. Courses are offered in January, April, June and October.|
|Norco Seniors and Pets Breakfast||The Norco Seniors and Pets Relief Fund sponsors a breakfast and bingo on the second Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Rose M. Eldridge Senior Center. Price of breakfast is $3.00 per person. Bingo runs from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. and costs 25 cents for 4 squares. All proceeds go to the Norco Seniors and Pets Relief Fund. |Southern California Edison Company Energy Assistance||Edison Company has the following energy assistance programs: The California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) program offers income-qualified customers a discount of 20% or more off their monthly electric bill. A two-person household may qualify for this program if they have a maximum yearly income of $30,260. If the CARE program is not applicable, a senior and family may qualify for the Family Electric Rate Assistance program (FERA). This plan offers a discounted rate on a monthly SCE bill for families of three or more who fall within the income guidelines and who exceed their baseline usage by 30% or more. |The Gas Company Project CARE||The Gas Company's CARE program is designed to assist seniors. If a senior receives assistance from Medi-Cal or Medicaid, CalFresh or other specific programs or the total income for one senior is $22,340 or two seniors is $30,260 he or she may qualify for the CARE Program which provides a 20% discount on the monthly gas bill for eligible households. In addition, those who qualify--and are approved within 90 days of starting new gas service--will also receive a $15 discount on the Service Establishment Charge. |Waste Management of the IE Senior Discount Program||Waste Management of the Inland Empire provides a reduction of the monthly rate for trash pick-up. This program is for low-income senior citizens 65 years of age or older or disabled. Income limits apply. For more information, please call (951) 270-5654.|
|Norco Senior Citizens and Pet Relief Fund||Norco residents 62 of age or older may contact Seniors and Pets through the Rose M. Eldridge Senior Center for financial assistance to spay or neuter their dog(s). Remember: Seniors will no longer be eligible for the senior citizen dog license rates if their dog(s) is/are not spayed or neutered. For further assistance, please call (951) 270-5647.|
